Canadian hopeful | Short track speed skating
Audrey Phaneuf, 20 years old, already has a strong presence on the international scene. She surely didn’t go unnoticed during the 2015-2016 season where she went home from the World Cup in Nagoya, Japan with an individual bronze medal at the 500m. She also brought back the silver medal from World Championship in Seoul, South Korea at the 3000m relay. It wasn’t her first time coming back with the silver medal. She finished second at the World Junior Championship in Osaka, Japan the year before. She started to skate at a really young age. It’s while watching her big brother trying to improve his skills at hockey that she realized she had a passion for speed skating.
Fun fact: she is one of only 2 athletes who participated in 4 consecutive World Junior Championships.
We have high hopes for her for the 2018 Olympics games that will take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She’s unstoppable!
